(Acts 6:8–7:5, 47–60; John 4, 46–54) St. Stephen says: “The Most High does not live in churches made with hands... What house will you build for Me, says the Lord, or what place for My rest?” Only the church of the heart, not made by hands, can accommodate God, as the Lord said: “Whoever loves Me will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our abode with him” (John 14:23). How this happens is incomprehensible to us; but it is so, for it obviously happens that then “God works in us both to will and to do according to His good pleasure” (Phil. 2:13) Don’t reason and just give your heart to the Lord, and He Himself will build a church out of it for Himself, but give it inseparably. If there are parts that have not been given away, then it will be impossible to build a whole church from it, for one will be rotten, the other will be broken - and if it comes out, the church will come out with holes, or without a roof, or without doors. But you can’t live in something like this; The Lord will not be in it. It will only seem that this is a church, but in reality it is some kind of heap. You might be interested in:
