73. Безопасный путь

We see in this world that people move from place to place, and sometimes one path is dangerous, and the other is safe. Christians! From our birth to death we are travelers, and we are trying to reach eternal life and the kingdom of God, to which we have been renewed by Holy Baptism and called by the word of God. Let us choose, beloved, a safe path to this bliss. Which path is safe for us? It is heartfelt to believe in Christ and to place one’s salvation only in His suffering and death. One can rely on Him alone as the Redeemer and Savior. Apart from Him, there is no other way to obtain eternal salvation, and following His example, live humbly, meekly and patiently on earth. This is the safe way. Guide me, Lord, on this path! If you are looking for honor, glory, wealth, carnality in this world, know for sure that you have strayed from the safe path and are following a dangerous path. If you don’t believe this, read God’s holy word and other Christian books diligently, and you will find out this truth for yourself. Christians in this world are called to bear the cross, and not to honor, glory, wealth, carnality. They have their honor, glory, wealth, joy and sweetness, but inside themselves, not outside - everything is spiritual, not carnal. Hear this, beloved, that the eternal Truth, Christ our Lord, says: “Enter at the strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many go in through it; for strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life, and few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). You see what the safe path is. This path is low and humble, but the sky leads to the high Fatherland. If you want to come to the Fatherland, follow this path. “Teach me, O Lord, in Thy way, and I will walk in Thy truth; Let my heart rejoice in fearing Your name” (Ps. 85:11).
