146. Уязвленный уязвляется

It happens that a tormentor, having inflicted many wounds on a person, beats him again and adds wounds to wounds, and so inflicts the most severe illness on him. The world sees such torment. This is also what those who call themselves Christians do, who inflict some kind of insult on poor people, and thus add misfortune to misfortune. 1) These are those who insidiously sadden and annoy someone who is sad, or in illness, or otherwise suffering. This is what the stiff-necked and hard-hearted Jews did, who blasphemed and cursed Christ, the Son of God, already mocked, wounded, martyred and suffering on the Cross: Those passing by slandered Him, nodding their heads and saying: “He who destroys the church and builds in three days! Save Yourself; if you are the Son of God, come down from the Cross” (Matthew 27:39–41), and so on. And so the pain of His wounds increased (Ps. 68:27). O fierce inhumanity! O Thy long-suffering, O Jesus! 2) Judges who do not give satisfaction to a person suffering evil, and he, an innocent person, is accused and condemned as if he were guilty, and so they add illness to illness. 3) Lords who take their last property from their poor and wretched peasants, or burden them with unnecessary work, and thus leave them without food. 4) Strong people, but without the fear of God, who take away land or other things from widows, orphans and other poor people who have no intercessors, from which they receive food for themselves. 5) Those unscrupulous people who, seeing a fire, steal and steal something from the owner whose house is on fire. 6) Money-loving rich people and other people who lend money to the poor, but take interest from them, and the more interest they take, the more trouble they cause. 7) Those people who retain bribes from mercenaries. 8) Those gentlemen and supervisors who do not give the people under their command the salary determined by the Sovereign for them without the right reason. 9) This also includes those shameless rapists who, for the sake of their nasty lust, take away the wives of others, and so on. The world sees this and other evil. All these people do the same thing as the tormentor who wounds someone who has already been wounded and torments someone who has already been tortured. Fierce inhumanity! Such iniquities are seen in Christians. Such people have lost the last spark of not only Christianity, but also humanity. Such iniquities as the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah cry out to heaven. In the city and country where this evil is being done, people are looking for their own destruction. Christian! What kind of mercy do you expect from God, from God, the Father of the orphans and the Judge of widows, you who do any of the above-described evil to the poor? And what do you expect for yourself in the next century, who inflicts such torment on a person like you? Do you really want to be with those inhuman people who once baked Christians like meat, burned them in fire, drowned them in water, handed them over to the teeth of animals, and inflicted other inhuman torments on them? You will, unless you repent and wash away your iniquities with your tears. For if people give an answer for an idle word, according to the word of Christ, on the day of Judgment (Matthew 12:36), much more will they be tortured for lawlessness and such evil deeds. It will then be more joyful for the Sodomites, Turks and idolaters than for such Christians, who always hear the word of God, convicting and teaching them, but not only do not want to correct themselves, but also succeed in even worse things. Know, Christian, your destruction and repent before time runs out; repent if you do not want to burn in fiery Gehenna, like iron in fire, forever burning, but never being consumed.
