Nothing happens by itself. Every city is not built by itself, but by others; every house is not built by itself, but by others. Every letter is not written by itself, but is written to others. Every book is not written by itself, but is composed by others. In a word, any thing is not done by itself, but is done by others. So this world was not created by itself, but by its Creator. “He spoke, and they were made; he commanded, and they were made” (Ps. 149:5). This Creator is our God in one nature, but in three persons believed, confessed and worshiped - Father and Son and Holy Spirit. The world was not created by the Creator the way people create it. People create one thing from another, that is, they make something out of some matter, and even then with difficulty. But God created this world, that is, heaven and earth with their fulfillment, out of nothing and without any labor, with a single desire and word. “He said, and they were made, he commanded, and they were created” - this work is attributed to the omnipotent power of God. Our reason, which says that nothing comes from nothing, cannot understand how the great composition of this world was produced from nothing. But faith complements the lack of reason and convinces him to admit that everything is possible to God, as the Almighty. “For with God no word will fail” (Luke 1:37). “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that what is visible was made out of things that are visible” (Heb. 11:3). She hears the testimony from the Holy Spirit: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen. 1:1) - and she does not doubt it. Just as the writer of a book extracts words from his mind and writes them on paper, and thus composes a book, and as if makes something out of nothing, so the all-wise and all-powerful Creator, whatever he had in his Divine mind and willed, created everything, and composed, as it were, a book of two sheets, that is, consisting of heaven and earth. In this book we see God's omnipotence, wisdom and goodness. Omnipotence - since he created everything out of nothing with desire and word. Wisdom - because He created everything wisely: “You created everything wisely" (Ps. 103:24). Goodness - because You created everything not for Yourself, but for our sake. Good is done for its own sake. Because God Himself does not require anything for His own sake, and as before, so now and forever and ever, abides in all-perfect bliss. You might be interested in:
