You need to glorify Christ with your life. The heart is the center of everything, everything depends on it: for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be (Matthew 6:21). The general order of acquiring the Jesus Prayer is that it is achieved through labor and sorrow, among which is a weary state of spirit. We understand the power of fasting and its significance if only from the fact that it is somehow especially hateful to our enemy the devil. Don’t stop at just external cleanliness, although that is necessary, but the main thing is to eradicate passions, especially anger, from the heart... Passion remains in a person until death, and dispassion can only be relative. For their pride, the spirits of malice lost their heavenly bliss, and their places are now taken by people for their humility! It puts us above the networks of the devil. Many searched for God in natural phenomena. Its beauty and greatness elevate the human soul above the vanity of the world and give the soul high pleasure. Do not let your heart become attached to the corruptible blessings of this world, drive away all attachments from it, since only in a free heart, free from all attachments, can the Lord create an abode for Himself. Where there are people, there is vanity, and vanity drowns out the voice of the human soul. We must fight passions, and if they win, then we will repent and confess all our sins.
