And all this testifies to the righteous judgment of God that is about to take place, so that you may be worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you suffer. For it is right before God to repay those who insult you with grief, and give joy to you who are insulted with us, at the appearance of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with the angels of His power. And in flaming fire He will take vengeance on those who did not know God and did not listen to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. They will suffer punishment, to eternal destruction, from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes to be glorified in His saints and to appear miraculously on that day among all who believe, just as you believed our testimony. So we always pray for you, that you may appear before our God worthy of the title and by His power may you accomplish every good will and work of faith. May the name of our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified in you and you in Him, by the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Chapter 2. The Man of Sin and the Great Apostasy And in considering the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will all be gathered to Him, we pray to you, brethren, not to be in a hurry to waver in mind and not to be disturbed either by the spirit, or by the word, or by the scripture, as if emanating from us, as if the day of Christ is already coming. Let no one deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the falling away comes first and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, the adversary, and he will be exalted above all that is called God or that is holy, so that in the church of God he will sit as God, revealing himself to be God. Don't you remember that I told you about this when I was with you? And now you know what prevents him from revealing himself in due time. For the mystery of iniquity is already being worked out, only it is not revealed until the one who is now holding it back is taken out of the way. And then the wicked one will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the spirit of His mouth and destroy him with the revelation of His coming. And his coming, according to the work of Satan, will be with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all unrighteousness in the deception of perishing people, who will perish because they did not love and accept the truth for their salvation. And for this reason God will send them the power of delusion, so that they will believe a lie: So all those who did not believe the truth, but loved unrighteousness, will be condemned. We, brothers beloved by the Lord, must always thank God for you, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation, sanctifying you by the Spirit, according to your faith in the truth. To this God has called you by our gospel, to achieve the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Stand firm, brothers, and adhere to the traditions that you have been taught either by word or by our message. Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and our God and Father, who loved us and gave us eternal consolation and good hope in grace, May he comfort your hearts and may he strengthen you in every good word and deed. Pray therefore for us, brethren, that the word of the Lord may spread and be glorified everywhere, as it is among you, and so that we can get rid of foolish and crafty people - for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful: He will strengthen you and keep you from the evil one. We trust in the Lord for you, that you live and will continue to live as we commanded you. May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. We command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to distance yourself from every brother who lives disorderly, and not according to the tradition that they received from us. You yourselves know how you should imitate us: for we did not live among you disorderly; They did not eat anyone’s bread for nothing, but worked tirelessly in labor day and night, so as not to burden any of you, - and not because we do not have power, but in order to set ourselves as an example for you - to imitate us. When we were with you, we repeated this word to you: “Whoever does not want to work should not eat.” But we hear that some people among you live disorderly, do nothing, but just wander around in bustle. We exhort and pray to such people, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, working in silence, they may eat their bread. But you, brothers, do not be discouraged, doing good. If anyone does not listen to our words in this message, take note of him and do not communicate with him, so that he may be ashamed; but do not consider him an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
