About the inadmissibility of a bishop or presbyter to participate in public secular affairs.
We said that it is not appropriate for a bishop or presbyter to be involved in the government of the people, but he should take care of the needs of the Church. So, let him either obey and not do what is mentioned, or be cast out, for no one can serve two masters, according to the Lord’s admonition (Matt. 6:24; Luke 16:13).

Εἴπομεν, ὅτι οὐ χρὴ ἐπίσκοπον, ἢ πρεσβύτερον καθιέναι ἑαυτὸν εἰς δημοσίας διοικήσεις, ἀλλὰ προσευκαιρεῖν ταῖς ἐκκλησιαστικαῖς χρείαις. Ἢ πειθέσθω οὖν τοῦτο μὴ ποιεῖν, ἢ καθαιρείσθω. Οὐδεὶς γὰρ δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν, κατὰ τὴν Κυριακὴν παρακέλευσιν.
