Young Cossacks from school No. 8 visited the church in the city of Sharypovotranslated

On September 22, for students of the Cossack class named after Ataman Miloslav Koltsov from Sharypovo school No. 8, an extracurricular activity was held within the walls of the Cathedral in the name of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity in the city of Sharypovo. The regular clergy of the cathedral acted as mentors for the children: the assistant to the dean of the churches of the Sharypovsky district, Priest Vasily Popovsky, and the assistant to the rector for work with youth, Priest Alexey Frolov.

The lesson began in the vestibule of the church. Father Vasily told the schoolchildren about the history of the construction of the cathedral and its significance for the city, as well as the symbolic meaning of the elements of church architecture.

The second part of the meeting took place on the territory of the cathedral under the leadership of Father Alexei. The youth mentor explained to the children the symbolism of Orthodox domes, taught them how to light candles correctly and revealed the meaning of venerating holy icons. Schoolchildren asked many questions about prayers, holidays and the painting of the church.

As the Cossack class mentors noted, such meetings strengthen children’s interest in their roots, showing that the military valor of the Cossacks has always been based on a deep and meaningful Orthodox faith. The event ended with a group photo.
