His Eminence the Bishop celebrated the All-Night Vigil on the eve of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lordtranslated

On August 18, the evening before the great twelve-day feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, the service of the All-Night Vigil with lithium in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Tiraspol was led by His Eminence the rector of the parish, Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary. During the service, the Ruling Bishop was co-served by Hieromonk John (Trayto), Hieromonk Simeon (Lupashko) and Deacon Gennady Gnatyuk. Numerous parishioners gathered under the arches of the church to celebrate in common prayer the holiday dedicated to the appearance of the Divine glory of the Savior on Mount Tabor. At Great Vespers, Archbishop Savva read the proverbs prescribed by the Charter on the eve of the holiday. Proverbs are selected passages from the Holy Scriptures that are read during evening services on the days of great holidays. In them, the Church reveals the spiritual meaning of the event taking place and, through Old Testament prophecies and prototypes, prepares believers for a reverent perception of the celebrated event.

A special place in the All-Night Vigil is occupied by the Six Psalms - six psalms read at the beginning of Matins. At this moment, the church falls into silence, and the words of the psalmist turn the thoughts of those praying to the spiritual...

The part about the parables from the Old Testament really stuck with me this time – I always forget how they quietly get us ready for the Feast. It was good to see so many people packed in for the vigil, especially with Archbishop Savva reading them himself. Our choir tried to keep up on the Six Psalms and it felt especially still in there.
