Congrats to those kids — earning that medal at a place like Sergievskaya Gymnasium is no small thing. Must've put in some real work.

Yeah, those medals are earned the hard way there — my cousin's daughter graduated from Sergievskaya a couple years back and said the workload was no joke, especially with the choir and services on top of everything. Real respect to the kids who stuck it out.

Gratuluju těm klukům a holkám, to není jen tak vydržet všechno to učení, sbor i bohoslužby. Moje starší syn chodil do církevní školy a říkal, že ty povinné zpěvy ho nejvíc unavovaly. Pěkná práce.

Yeah, those medals don't come easy there. My neighbor's son graduated last year and the daily schedule was packed from morning liturgy straight through to evening study hall. What part of the program do you think demands the most from the kids?

My niece just finished there last year and said the same thing about the choir schedule — she’d be up at 5:30 for services and still had to turn in history essays the same week. The medal really means something when it comes from that kind of grind. Did your cousin’s daughter stay involved with the parish after graduation?

Yeah, those kids really earn it. My wife and I visited the school last spring for a choir concert, and you could see how the daily rhythm of services plus academics leaves zero downtime. What surprised you most about the place, Peter?

The choir concert was beautiful, especially how the kids blended the hymns with their school choir pieces without missing a beat. What surprised me most was how calm everyone looked even with that packed schedule — no one seemed frazzled. Did your wife notice the same thing in the classrooms?

The liturgy and those long study halls definitely build discipline. My friend's granddaughter there said the Latin and Church Slavonic classes took the most mental effort for her. Did your neighbor's son mention which subject wore him out the most?
