Opening speech by Metropolitan Nikita of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk at the opening of the regional scientific and practical conference “Biblical Palestinian Readings”translated

Dear fathers, brothers and sisters! Conference participants and guests!

I cordially welcome everyone to the Bishops' House of Krasnoyarsk at the regional scientific and practical conference “Biblical Palestine Readings”.

The current conference is of great scientific importance. It allows us to see how the biblical text has influenced the culture, education and values ​​of our people over the centuries, and also unites the efforts of scientists from different specialties in the study of the spiritual heritage. The conference is timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the publication of the Synodal Translation of the Bible - the first complete translation of the Holy Scriptures into Russian. This event became the basis for the development of national culture and education.

The Synodal translation is not only a church event, but also a monument of book art. Thanks to him, the Word of God sounded in a language understandable to every Russian person and became accessible for home reading and study. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4), the Lord tells us. And today we have gathered to re-think the meaning of this word for our lives, for the Church and for the Fatherland.
