Meeting with medical students: about mercy and service to one’s neighbortranslated

On October 1, on the square of the Glory Memorial Complex in Tiraspol, Archpriest Anatoly Topal, cleric of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, held another meeting with students of the Faculty of Medicine of PSU. T. G. Shevchenko and their curator. Speaking about the future profession of students, Father Anatoly noted the importance of the spiritual and moral foundations of medical service. Turning to the words of the Savior that “due to the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold,” the priest emphasized that mercy is impossible without love, self-sacrifice and the willingness to serve one’s neighbor. During the conversation, Archpriest Anatoly drew attention to the fact that a doctor’s constant contact with suffering and death requires internal spiritual support. That is why it is important to lay the foundations of morality and a Christian attitude towards people already during the years of training, so that in the future they will help future doctors maintain the ability to sympathize and perceive the pain of another person. At the end of the meeting, the students asked the priest questions that interested them.
Archpriest Anatoly wished them mental and physical strength, God's help in their studies and future medical service.
