All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference in Memory of Archimandrite Georgy (Shestun)translated

On September 17, the opening of the All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Orthodox psychology: preserving the person of the Russian world (Orthodox civilization)”, dedicated to the memory of Archimandrite George (Shestun), took place in the Trans-Volga St. Elias Convent in the village of Podgory. The central event of the first day of the forum was the holding of the specialized section “Monasticism: preserving the tradition of transmitting spiritual experience.” Commemorative events on the Volga region began with a litiya at the grave of Archimandrite George (Shestun) and a tour of the monastery in honor of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord. At the meeting of the monastic section, reports on the spiritual heritage of Father George and the continuity of experience in modern monasteries were made by the rector of the Zavolzhsky Monastery, Abbot Mark (Matyaskin), the abbess of the St. Elias Monastery, Abbess Nina (Mekhanikova), and the head of the Department of Orthodox Pedagogy of SamDS, nun Evstratia (Podorovskaya).
The meeting participants discussed historical aspects and modern stages of monastic life, as well as the traditions of transmitting spiritual leadership.
