There is not a single private clinic left in the Smolensk region where abortions are performed, this was reported by the governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin.

At a meeting with Patriarch Kirill on September 10, 2026 in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow, the head of the region noted that in the Smolensk region all private clinics voluntarily surrendered their licenses to perform abortions, the website Patriarchia.ru reports.

“We don’t have a single private clinic left that has a license to perform abortions. This is also very significant for us,” said Vasily Anokhin.
