Doctor Bondarev: love and prayer lead to support for seriously ill childrentranslated

Love, attention and prayer play an important role in working with seriously ill children and their families. The chief physician of the Moscow Multidisciplinary Center for Palliative Care, Sergei Bondarev, spoke about this. He spoke after a prayer service at the Alekseevsky Stavropegic Convent in Moscow, where children with serious illnesses and their loved ones venerated the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Healer.” Writes RIA Novosti.

Bondarev noted that spiritual support is of great importance for people who need palliative care. According to him, the principles of such a service are in many ways consonant with the ideas of the Russian Orthodox Church about mercy and philanthropy. Doctors strive to surround patients with care, provide them with the necessary assistance and, if possible, improve their quality of life.

The head physician thanked the clergy of the monastery for inviting the children and their relatives to the prayer service. He emphasized that such meetings and prayer help strengthen a sense of mercy and mutual support.
