“Restoring the broken connection of generations”: for the first time, a divine service was held on the site of the destroyed Trinity Cathedraltranslated

September 13 is the day of celebration in honor of the Council of Simbirsk Saints. This is the main holiday of the Simbirsk Metropolis - the day when the Church honors the memory of all the saints who shone on the Simbirsk land. The Cathedral now includes 14 saints, 12 of them are new martyrs and confessors of the 20th century.

On this day, for the first time, a divine service was held on the Cathedral Square of Ulyanovsk - on the site of the Trinity Cathedral of Simbirsk, which was destroyed in the 1930s. The Divine Liturgy was performed by Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky, Bishop of Baryshsky and Inzensky Alexander, Bishop of Melekessky and Cherdaklinsky Diodorus. The clergy of the Simbirsk, Barysh and Melekes dioceses served with the archpastors. The liturgical hymns were performed by the Mixed Choir of the Ascension Cathedral under the direction of regent Roman Khitev. At the end of the Liturgy, a prayer service was offered to the Synbisrian Saints Council.

Almost a hundred years have passed since the words of prayer were heard at this place and the sacrament of the Eucharist was performed. The liturgy on Cathedral Square united parishioners of Simbirsk churches: about 1,000 people gathered for the first service at the site of the destroyed shrine.
