Sunday Liturgy at the Naval Cathedraltranslated

July 1, 2026 · 1 min read

June 28, the day of remembrance of St. Jonah, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Archbishop Theodore of Peter and Paul and Kamchatka celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Kamchatka Naval Cathedral. His Eminence was concelebrated by the clergy of the cathedral.

At the end of the Liturgy, the Head of the Diocese read an address from His Holiness the Patriarch on the occasion of Youth Day and addressed those gathered with a sermon: I congratulate you all on Sunday. Today, brothers and sisters, at the Divine Liturgy the words of the Apostle Paul from the Epistle to the Romans were heard. The words are not easy to understand, but very important:

“The pattern of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom.6:23)

What are we afraid of now? We are afraid of diseases. Some people are afraid of humiliation. Some people are afraid of poverty. But they are not afraid of sin. He compares the life of society with the first church, and we can compare ourselves with the contemporaries of St. Philaret. How morals change, how habits change, how aspirations change.

That’s when monasteries were opened, a monastery was opened in Novosibirsk...
