Bishop Alexy: “We are all called to apostolic service”translated

On the feast of the glorious and all-praised First Apostles Peter and Paul, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Peter and Paul Church in the city of Korkino. Concelebrating with the ruling bishop was the rector of the church, secretary of the Chelyabinsk diocese, Archpriest Igor Shestakov. The Bishop's male choir "Axios" sang during the service. After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Alexy with the clergy and parishioners walked around the Peter and Paul Church in a religious procession. At the grave of the former rector, Archpriest Sergius Gulko, a funeral prayer was performed and “Eternal Memory” was sung. In his sermon, Metropolitan Alexy cordially congratulated the clergy and parishioners of the Peter and Paul Church on their patronal feast day, noting the care of the Korkino residents for their church. “Apostolic ministry is the ministry that every Christian should perform. We must bring the sermon about Christ to the world, testify to the coming Last Judgment, and proclaim to people about God's love and mercy. This is exactly what the holy apostles preached about. With their very lives they testified to the truth of Christian teaching and, imitating the Teacher, accepted martyrdom.
