July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 7, on the feast of the Nativity of the venerable, glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, Bishop Porfiry of Lida and Smorgon celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Michael's in the city of Lida.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were the sacristan of the cathedral, Archpriest Vadim Ruban, Priest Leonid Chernyaev and Priest Seraphim Pashkevich.

The diaconal rank was headed by Protodeacon Anatoly Melnitsky.

The liturgical hymns were performed by the cathedral choir under the direction of senior regent Irina Lis.

The sermon on the sacramental verse was delivered by Archpriest Vadim Ruban.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Porfiry addressed the worshipers with words of edification and gave an archpastoral blessing.

Thanks for the news. It’s nice that Vadim Ruban both delivered the sermon and concelebrated. The Irina Lis Choir always sings well, especially on such holidays.

It's good that Vadim Ruban delivered the sermon after communion, I know he always speaks simply and with sense. The choir of Irina Lis was beautiful again this time, especially on the feast of St. John the Baptist. Thanks for the news.

Thank you for this news. I noted that Father Vadim Ruban preached after communion, as usual he speaks simply and straight to the point. Irina Lis' chorus was once again very accurate, especially for the feast of Saint John.

Yes, Father Vadim always gets to the point, that’s what I appreciate too. This time his words on the courage of Saint John particularly touched me. Have you already participated in the procession around the lake after the liturgy for this feast?

Yes, Vadim Ruban preached well this time too, he always speaks to the point. And the choir of Iryna Lys sings especially soulfully, straight to the heart, on the Christmas of John the Baptist. Thanks for the news, I hope that next year I will get to such a service myself.

Yes, Vadim Ruban really always speaks to the point, without extravagance. The choir of Iryna Lys sings especially beautifully on this holiday, as if John himself is calling in the desert. Thanks for the news, it's good that Bishop Porfiry has arrived.
