A meeting for deaf and hard of hearing believers was held in Gomeltranslated

On the eve of the International Day of the Deaf, September 25, 2026, believers with hearing impairments visited the Peter and Paul Cathedral of Gomel and met with Priest Pavel Pereshchuk, responsible for the care of deaf and hard of hearing people of the Gomel diocese.

The priest gave a tour of the cathedral in sign language and spoke about the history of the church and its shrines.

Then the meeting continued at the youth center of the diocese. While drinking tea, the participants talked with Priest Pavel about faith and spiritual life, and discussed issues that concern them.

Communication in sign language allows people with hearing impairments to freely ask questions to the clergy, learn more about the Orthodox faith and participate in the life of the church community.
