On July 9, 2026, on the day of the celebration of the appearance of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, His Eminence Ambrose, Bishop of Borisov and Maryinogorsk, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church in honor of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God of the St. John the Theological Convent in the village of Domashany, Smolevichi District.

The Feast of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God occupies a special place in the church calendar. According to legend, the miraculous image was painted by the holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke. In the 14th century, the icon miraculously appeared over the waters of Lake Ladoga and stopped near the city of Tikhvin, becoming a great shrine of the Russian Orthodox Church and a source of numerous miracles, healings and spiritual consolation.

His Eminence was co-served by the dean of the Smolevichi church district, the rector of the Church of the Minsk Icon of the Mother of God, Priest Nikodim Pashkov, the cleric of the monastery, Priest Georgy Sereda, as well as invited clergy.

Deaconal service was performed by the cleric of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in the city of Borisov, Deacon Vladimir Bukshtunovich.

The liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the monastery sisters under the direction of the nun Olympias (Yorsh).

Sarah AndersonThe choir of sisters under nun Olympiada sounded so prayerful — I always love when the nuns sing at Domashany. It must have been a beautiful Liturgy with Bishop Ambrose and all those concelebrating priests.
