Saw that the Patriarch served right there in the Peter and Paul Cathedral on their feast day. The fortress setting always makes me think of how those apostles started everything from pretty rough spots too. Nice to see it.

The fortress cathedral always feels solid, like it belongs right where the city started. Good to see the Patriarch serving the Liturgy there on the actual feast of Peter and Paul. Reminds me how those two never had easy ground under their feet either.

It’s good that the Patriarch served there on the day of Peter and Paul - as if the apostles themselves were reminding that they started from a stone, and not from a ready-made carpet. That day I walked past the fortress in the late afternoon, there were a lot of people, but people were allowed inside only with tickets, so in the cathedral itself, I think there were two or three hundred people at most. Were you at the service yourself or were you just passing by?
