September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

On September 6, representatives of the peoples of the North arrived at the Bishop's House in Krasnoyarsk. Guests in national costumes at the monument to St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) were met by representatives of the clergy - the head of the missionary department of the Krasnoyarsk diocese, the dean of churches in the Krasnoyarsk district, the rector of the Church of the Three Saints, Priest Vasily Vershinsky and the head of the diocesan department of religious education and catechesis, the rector of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and Their Mother Sofia priest Andrey Babin. The guests were also greeted by the consultant of the department for nationalities, religions and Cossacks of the public relations department of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Sergei Shcheglov and the guide and head of the parish library Irina Kolosova.

Those who arrived were given a tour of the Church of John the Baptist and the Bishop's House. In the library, guests were introduced to an exhibition of literature for the 165th anniversary of the Krasnoyarsk diocese and a collection of ancient Orthodox publications. At the end of the meeting, in the conference hall of the Bishop's House, the priests answered questions from the guests.

Acquaintance with the history of the diocese continued at the Kasyanovsky House Center for Spiritual Culture.

I like that they started right at St. Luke’s monument with the guests still in their traditional outfits. The old books and the 165-year eparchy exhibit in the library sound like the kind of thing that sticks with people. I wonder if any of the northern visitors asked about how the faith first reached the far north.
