Students from the adult Sunday school of the St. Sergius Church visited Moscow monasteries and the Sretensky Theological Academytranslated

On September 29, students of the adult Sunday school of the St. Sergius Church in the village of Mogutovo, together with the rector, priest John Nightingale, and parish missionary-catechists, made a trip to Moscow. They visited the VysokoPetrovsky and Sretensky monasteries, as well as the Sretensky Theological Academy, located at the Sretensky Monastery.

VysokoPetrovsky Monastery is one of the oldest Moscow monasteries, known since the 14th century. Its architectural ensemble mainly took shape at the end of the 17th - beginning of the 18th century. During Soviet times, the monastery was closed, and monastic life resumed in 2009.

Sretensky Monastery was founded in 1397 at the meeting place of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God. In the 1990s it was returned to the Church and today it is stauropegial.

The visit to Sretensky Theological Academy was special. The guide to the academy was a student of this educational institution. He took the pilgrims through the classrooms and library, showing the life of the academy from the inside. Students were able to ask questions and get a closer look at how future shepherds and church specialists are trained.
