Young people from Greenland and Scandinavia participated in the pilgrimage dedicated to the Mother of God in the native village of PS Macarietranslated

August 4, 2026 · 1 min read

Hundreds of believers participated on Sunday in the pilgrimage with the Icon of the Mother of God "Alăptătoarea", organized in Spermezeu, the native village in Bistrița Năsăud county of Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe. Among the pilgrims were also young people from Greenland and the Scandinavian countries, converted to Orthodoxy.

Reverend Father Macarie emphasized that the pilgrimage brought together young people from the Diocese of Northern Europe, "who have been to several camps in the country and to many actions that we have organized together with young people from abroad and with those at home".

Among the participants were the twin brothers Cleopa and Paisie from Greenland, baptized by the hierarch in March 2026. One of them, Cleopa, told Trinitas TV that he was happy to arrive at the Hermitage Monastery, to worship the holy relics and receive a blessing, "in the very place where the Venerable Saints Cleopas and Paisie from the Hermitage lived and led people to Christ".

The pilgrimage with the Icon of the Mother of God "Alăptătoarea" is organized annually on the first Sunday of August in Spermezeu, bringing together believers from the whole country and abroad.
