After long service and dedication in the missions, the elderly retired missionaries who served in Papua New Guinea and are now back in Europe continue to tell an extraordinary story of faith, sacrifice, and unwavering love for the people of Papua New Guinea. Fr. Christian Sieland, the director of Pontifical Mission Societies in Papua New Guinea, visited them and shares how their humility and commitment to inculturation of decades of service remain a lasting inspiration for today's Church.

Interesting how they managed to fit so well into the culture there - that's about enculturation being the key. One wonders how long it took for the locals to fully trust them. I thank Father Sieland for visiting them and reminding us of them.

It’s good to hear Fr Sieland took the time to visit them. The bit about decades of inculturation really struck me – you can’t rush trust in a place like Papua New Guinea. Makes you wonder what small daily things they had to learn first, like sharing garden food or sitting the right way.
