Holy ascetics of the Belarusian landtranslated

June 17 and 18 at the Sunday school of the parish of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Minodora, Metrodora, Nymphodora g.p. Ushachi held three meetings with three detachments of the health camps “Solnyshko” and “Yunost” of the State Educational Institution “Ushachi Secondary School”.

The hour of spirituality “Holy Ascetics of the Land of Belarus” is dedicated to the 440th anniversary of the birth of the holy righteous Sophia of Slutsk and the 20th anniversary of the canonization of Blessed Valentina of Minsk.

At Sunday school, the children learned that the holy righteous Sophia of Slutsk remained faithful to Orthodoxy and was glorified by God for the incorruption of her holy relics and the miracles that occurred at her shrine. From the short film, the guys also learned that the saint’s fellow countrymen immediately began to venerate Sophia after her death and did not want her to be buried in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. Thanks to the people's love, the ascetic Sophia did not leave the Belarusian lands with her holy relics; she is the prayerful intercessor of Minsk residents, Belarusians and everyone who venerates the holy saint.

Sunday school guests learned about Blessed Valentina Minskaya, almost our contemporary, by watching the presentation and listening to the wonderful song “Mother Valentina.” The guys saw the saint’s grave and beautiful flower arrangements that...
