“St. Simeon’s religious procession was completely unusual”: the organizer of the prayer procession spoke about its features, trials and joystranslated

The St. Simeon religious procession in 2026 took place for the 18th time.  On September 14, the day of the church new year, the pilgrims prayed at the festive bishop's service and took part in the consecration of the lower church in honor of the August Icon of the Mother of God in the revived Alexander Nevsky Church of Alapaevsk, then set off on their journey.

The crusaders walked almost 190 kilometers along the same road along which pilgrims walked 100 years ago - forest, swamps, difficult paths. On the way, they stopped to pray in monasteries and churches of ancient villages, including Rychkovo and Merkushino.

The organizer of the St. Simeon's religious procession, Oleg Morozov, shared his impressions of the past prayer procession - its features, trials and joys.

– We are repeating the path of the religious procession of 1914, which then brought almost 6,000 people from Yekaterinburg to Verkhoturye. And along this path from the capital of the Urals to the spiritual capital, a prayer procession takes place once every 5 years, the next one will take place in 2029, in other years we go the “short” route - from Alapaevsk.
