"Starets Spyridon of Trimithous – He is Ours, Our Own": Sergei Yuryevich Rudov on His Attitude toward the Sainttranslated

The right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimithous was brought to Ekaterinburg, to the Church-on-Blood, on September 11, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. Thousands of believers gathered in the Urals' capital to meet the casket with this great Christian relic. Among the group of attendants was Sergei Yuryevich Rudov – a member of the Russian Federation Public Chamber, deputy of the Most Holy Patriarch for the World Council of the Russian People. He shared his impressions from this event, spoke about his attitude toward the saint, and answered questions on faith, miracles, and modern life.

Sergei Yuryevich Rudov noted that each person in life has their own calling: some lay bricks, others cook soup, and others tend to the wounded. For him personally, participation in bringing relics became one of the most evident and precious missions.

"I myself have many times experienced the grace from relics that pilgrims carry... When you witness miracles with your own eyes – such obvious ones as are written about in books – it is a shiver down the spine. They bring a person who has been 'disassembled' in an automobile accident, lying on stools for three days, like an evangelical story, and after three days, by applying themselves to the relics, he stands up on his feet and walks before your very eyes," Rudov said.
