On September 19, the chairman of the department of the Simbirsk diocese for interaction with the armed forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Archpriest Sergius Kichigin, visited the construction site in the Pribrezhny Park in the Zavolzhsky district of the city of Ulyanovsk. Here, the construction of a memorial monument continues in honor of the sailors who gave their lives in the defense of Russia’s water borders.
The priest wished the members of the veteran organization good health and God's help in serving the Fatherland and educating youth, and also joined in the construction work.
On this day, builders poured concrete into a container with formwork under the aft part of the monument ship. The work became possible thanks to the charitable assistance of patrons, one of whom was private entrepreneur Alexander Lyubimov.
The monument “Defenders of maritime borders of all generations” is being erected on the initiative of the Ulyanovsk regional branch of the All-Russian public organization of naval veterans “Maritime Brotherhood” headed by the chairman of the veteran organization, captain 2nd rank reserve Alexander Emelkin.
