Employees of the GUFSIN of the Chelyabinsk region prayed to St. Pimen of Ugreshskytranslated

Employees of the GUFSIN in the Chelyabinsk region gathered for a conciliar prayer to their heavenly patron - the Venerable Pimen of Ugreshsky. During the prayer service, the memory of employees who died in the line of duty was also paid tribute. The prayer service was performed by the head of the diocesan department of social ministry, Priest Pavel Kurbatov. After the service, the priest spoke about the life of St. Pimen. The saint was born in 1810 in Vologda into a merchant family, and in 1834 he took monastic vows at the Nikolo-Ugreshsky Monastery near Moscow. Having become abbot, he did a lot for the development of the monastery: new churches were built under him, a school, an almshouse, a hospital, a free pharmacy and hotels for pilgrims were opened. The Monk Pimen paid special attention to the spiritual life of the brethren. In 2000, he was glorified as a Moscow saint. Since 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, Reverend Pimen Ugreshsky has been the heavenly patron of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
