On August 20, primary school students from Ostrovets Secondary School No. 1, together with their teachers, visited the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.

The rector of the church, Archpriest Georgy Savitsky, gave the children a tour of the church, talked about the saints who are depicted on the icons, and about the structure of the church.

During the excursion, the children asked the priest questions on topics that interested them.

Хубаво, че са завели децата в храма още от малки. Особено ми хареса, че протоиерей Георгий Савицкий им е разказал за иконите и са му задавали въпроси – моите също в началото все питаха за всичко. Надявам се да им остане нещо в паметта.

Well said, Elena. It is very important that they get used to the church from a young age, and not that it is something foreign to them later. My nephews also first kept asking about the icons and why the candles were right there, then they entered more calmly. I hope that these children will have at least one or two pictures left in their heads.

I agree, Vasil. My daughters, when they were small, also wondered why the icons are in this row and how long a candle burns. Then, when we went fishing together near Maritsa, they often remembered various details from the church. I wonder if these island kids asked questions about the altar as well.
