Orthodox calendar – September 19 Holy Martyrs Trophimus, Savatie and Dorimedont The three saints (+278) lived when the emperor Probus reigned in Rome (276-282), so at the time when Christians were still being persecuted, and in Antioch the prefect Eliodor ruled. So, while the festival of the god Apollo was taking place, from the parts outside the city, there came to Antioch two unknown people, Trophimus and Savatius, righteous Christians and worshipers of the true God. And seeing the soul-losing feast of the pagans, they did not want to enter and rejoice with them, saying: "We are Christians and it is not for us to come to pagan feasts."

When Eliodorus heard this, he immediately ordered the soldiers to catch them and separate them from each other in the dungeon. And, bringing Trofimus first, he asked him about his name, life and faith. So, boldly confessing his faith in Christ, the governor was filled with anger, seeing such strength of faith in a young man like him, and stripping him, ordered him to be mercilessly beaten with rods, until the ground was reddened with his blood, then, with sharp tools cutting his body to the bones, they threw him into prison.
