Orthodox calendar, July 3 The Holy Martyr Iachintus Originally from Caesarea Cappadocia, he was a cubicular (the one who took care of the master's bedroom) and also served at the table of Emperor Trajan (98-117).

Because he was accused of being a Christian, he was forced to partake of idol sacrifices, but he flatly refused and confessed Christ. Iachintus was beaten all over his body and put in prison, where he was given to eat only things sacrificed to idols, but he did not eat, but fasted for 40 days.

Fainting from hunger, he gave his soul to God.

Your martyr, Lord, Jachintus, in his need, acquired the crown of incorruption from You, our God; that having Your power, he defeated the tormentors; crushed the demons' powerless dares. For his prayers, save our souls, Christ God.
