Orthodox calendar, August 4 The seven young men of Ephesus The Orthodox Church celebrates today, August 4, but also on October 22 the 7 young Saints from Ephesus: Maximilian, Exacustodian, Iamblic, Martinian, Dionysius, Antonin and Constantine.

Ephesus was one of the 12 cities founded by the Ionian Greeks on the Asian shore of the Aegean Sea. Trade and belief in the gods have flourished here since ancient times. Many empires coveted the wealth of Ephesus. The temple of the goddess Artemis (Diana) in Ephesus was four times larger than the famous Pantheon in the Acropolis of Athens, being one of the seven wonders of the world.

The Christian church of Ephesus has been developing since the apostolic age.
