Sisters of Mercy of UlSU began daily reading of akathiststranslated

On October 6, students of the A.L. Medical College Polenov at Ulyanovsk State University, ordained sisters of mercy, began to carry out a new obedience. In the sister church in the name of the holy righteous Philaret the Merciful at the college, from this day on, daily reading of akathists has been established, and during periods of multi-day fasts, the reading of the Psalter is performed.

The additional education program “Sister of Mercy” has been operating at the medical college since 2012. This is a joint project of the Simbirsk diocese and UlSU, aimed at preparing future doctors to serve their neighbors not only with professional skills, but also with active Christian love. This year, 22 people completed training under the program.

Before starting to read in the church, the students underwent training. According to the approved schedule, obedience is carried out by two sisters of mercy. After classes at college, from Monday to Friday, they come to the church in the name of the holy righteous Philaret the Merciful for prayer.
