The fig tree in that Matthew reading always gets me—Jesus expects fruit even when it's not the season. Makes me think about my own days off when I slack on prayer. Anyone else notice how the epistle ties right into it with the resurrection hope?

Yes, that fig tree in Matthew 21 makes me think every time. As a driver, it often happens that I am "out of season" - tired, in no mood for prayer, and yet Christ is looking for fruit. And in 1 Corinthians 15 about the resurrection it is exactly the same - if there is no fruit, faith is empty. Thanks for linking it, Elizabeth.
