Representatives from the academic community in China have celebrated with metrical verses 70 years of Romanian studies at Beijing.translated

Ten professors, students, and graduates from the Romanian language departments in China marked Sunday at the Foreign Languages University of Beijing (FLUB) the 70th anniversary of Romanian studies, which began with the establishment of the Romanian language section within this institution, reports Radio China International.

In opening, Chinese students recited the poem "Glosa" by Mihai Eminescu, the most studied and translated Romanian poet in China over more than a century.

The host of the event was Prof. Univ. Dr. Dong Xixiao, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures and Director of the Center for Romanian Studies at FLUB.

Speeches In his inaugural speech, Prof. Univ. Dr. Zhao Gang, Vice-Rector of FLUB, recalled the moment when the Romanian language department was established within the university.

"Being the first specialization in a minor circulating language to be established by our university, it has had from the outset a noble mission: that of serving the general objectives of national diplomacy and contributing to the rapprochement between the Chinese and Romanian peoples," said Vice-Rector Zhao Gang.
