Extended schedule: The Sarmizegetusa Regia site can be visited from Friday to Sunday in Augusttranslated

The Sarmizegetusa Regia archaeological site in the Orăștiei Mountains will extend its visiting hours in August, from Friday to Sunday, between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The Hunedoara County Council has extended the visiting schedule, after consultations with the owners of guesthouses in the area. The decision aims to support local tourism in high season and respond to the large number of visitors who arrive at the Dacian citadel on weekends.

From Monday to Thursday, the site remains closed to the public. The restrictions are related to the conservation and restoration work carried out on the 10th Terrace. The project is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Sarmizegetusa Regia is one of the most important archaeological sites in Romania and is part of the Dacian fortresses in the Orăștiei Mountains included in the UNESCO World Heritage.

The Hunedoara County Council administers the Sarmizegetusa Regia site since 2013, and the other Dacian fortresses in the Orăștiei Mountains since 2019.
