Representatives of the Vyborg diocese took part in a meeting at the Leningrad Regional Election Committeetranslated

A meeting was held at the Election Commission of the Leningrad Region with representatives of the Vyborg, Gatchina and Tikhvin dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church. Chairman of the Leningrad Regional Election Committee Mikhail Lebedinsky and clergy of three dioceses took part in the conversation.
Participants discussed preparations for the upcoming elections, which will be held on September 18, 19 and 20, issues of informing citizens and the voter’s personal responsibility for their choice.
Mikhail Lebedinsky spoke about the main election procedures and educational projects of the commission. Particular attention was paid to the InformUIK project, within the framework of which members of precinct election commissions personally communicate with residents, talk about the procedure and methods of voting, and also help elderly and disabled citizens obtain the necessary information.
One of the central themes of the meeting was free and informed choice. It was noted that each person makes a decision independently, based on his own convictions, and the task of election commissions is to ensure reliable information, accessibility and secrecy of voting, as well as an accurate reflection of the will of voters.
