Okay, a meeting with the hierarchs in Antioch is a good thing, especially since the situation there has been difficult for years. I wonder if they also talked about how to help the Christian communities that are few left in Syria. Let us pray for them.

It's good they met — the Antiochian Church has carried a heavy load in Syria for years now. I hope they talked about practical help for the remaining Christian families there, like Ion mentioned. I'll remember them in my prayers this week.

Yes, meetings like this matter. The Antiochian bishops have been carrying a heavy burden in Syria for years, as both Ion and Katherine said. I’ll add the Christian families there to my prayer list this week too.

Thanks Anna, you're right about the burden they've carried. I know Metropolitan Paul from the Antiochian diocese here in the States always mentions how the families in Damascus and Aleppo are barely hanging on. I'll add them to my list this week too.

It's good that we met. There really are few Christians left in Syria, especially after everything that happened in Aleppo and Damascus. I will remember them during the evening rule, just as Mikhail wrote.

Thanks Michael, it's good to hear from someone who actually knows Metropolitan Paul. My daughter met a few families from Aleppo at a church event last year and said the same thing about them scraping by day to day. I'll remember them in my prayers this week too.

Thanks Irene, that's encouraging to hear your daughter met some of those Aleppo families in person. The stories of them just getting by really stick with me too. I'll add them to my prayer list this week as well.

I didn't know your daughter had met folks from Aleppo — that's the kind of thing that makes it all feel less abstract. My husband and I keep a jar in the kitchen for whatever extra we can set aside for Syrian relief each month; it's not much, but it adds up. Do you know if any of those families ended up staying in our diocese?
