Not far from the city of Aleppo (Syria), a sacred pillar was restored, on which the Monk Simeon the Stylite (356-459) labored in ascetic solitude for several decades. This event was timed to coincide with the saint's feast day (September 1/14) and the beginning of the Church New Year. The re-creation of the sacred pillar concluded a week of events called "Light from Aleppo", organized by the Aleppo Archdiocese of the Antiochian Orthodox Church.
