Poet John Alexandru, commemorated at the Monastery of Nicula: Metropolitan Andrei Honored His Literary and Spiritual Legacytranslated

Poet John Alexandru was commemorated on Friday at the Monastery of "The Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos" in Nicula, 26 years after his repose.

On this occasion, Very Reverend Father Andrei, Metropolitan of Cluj, Maramureș, and Sălaj, honored the literary and spiritual legacy of the poet.

The commemorative service began at 13:00 in the church of the monastery, where Metropolitan Andrei officiated a Parastas for John Alexandru, who was buried in the monastic cemetery.

"In Memoriam: Poet John Alexandru" From 15:00, the commemorative program continued in the "John Alexandru" Hall at the Center for Conference and Patristic Studies "Saint Prince Stephen the Great."

The "In Memoriam: Poet John Alexandru (1941–2000)" commemoration brought together clergy, writers, poets, cultural figures, historians, family members, and those who knew the poet. Participants honored his personality and recalled meetings and experiences that marked their relationship with him.

Among those who delivered speeches were Metropolitan Andrei, Father Ioan Chirila, director of the Cluj-Napoca branch of the Library…
