Repentance: The Key to Spiritual Peace: Bishop Ignatius Consecrates the Side Chapel and Bells of Prodromița Monastery in Vaslui Countytranslated

July 13, 2026 · 1 min read

Most Reverend Bishop Ignatius of Huși consecrated the side chapel and new bells of Prodromița Monastery in Vaslui County on Saturday. In his homily, the hierarch explained, through the teachings of Saint Sophrony of Essex, that repentance is the key to spiritual peace.

Following the consecration service on the square of the monastery’s main church, the Holy Liturgy was celebrated. The liturgical responses were chanted by members of the Psaltic Group “Holy Great Martyr Chiriac” from the Cathedral in Huși.

On the commemoration of Saint Sophrony of Essex, Bishop Ignatius recalled the saint’s advice for attaining spiritual peace and joy. The hierarch noted the saint’s observation that while we all love peaceful people, we do not seek to become such ourselves.

“We always place the emphasis on our neighbor when it comes to being good, peaceful, and full of love and understanding. We place ourselves last and constantly ask for forgiveness without taking concrete steps to earn it…”
