Patriarchate of Bulgaria: Metropolitan Joseph hospitalized following road accident in New York

Metropolitan Joseph of the United States, Canada and Australia has been hospitalized following a road accident in New York on August 7, according to information provided by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

The Metropolitan is conscious and his condition is not considered life-threatening.

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York is closely monitoring the condition of Metropolitan Joseph, head of the Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese of the United States, Canada and Australia.

According to the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, a representative of the Consulate General visited Metropolitan Joseph on August 9 at the hospital where he is receiving treatment.
