Patriarch of Serbia consecrated new church in Nova Pazova

Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia presided on Sunday, September 20, over the consecration of the Church of Saint Archdeacon Stephen in Nova Pazova, followed by the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.

The church was built as an endowment of Radenko Đuričić, a private entrepreneur from Nova Pazova.

Addressing Metropolitan Vasilije of Srem, the attending hierarchs, clergy, monastics and faithful, Patriarch Porfirije stressed the importance of unity in Christ.

“There is nothing more blessed than brothers and sisters gathering together in one place,” the Patriarch said, adding that a gathering centered on Christ enables people to become one with Him and with one another.

Patriarch Porfirije also referred to the challenges faced by the Serbian Orthodox people throughout history, stressing that they had repeatedly found renewal through their faith.

“Our foundation is not a human foundation. Our foundation is our Lord Jesus Christ, and He is the Beginning and the End. Everything comes from Him and everything is in Him,” he said.
