Patriarch of Romania marks 19 years of enthronement

Patriarch Daniel of Romania marked the 19th anniversary of his enthronement with a thanksgiving service at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, reflecting on the development of the Romanian Orthodox Church’s pastoral, social, educational and media activities during his tenure.

The Te Deum service was celebrated by Bishop Timotei of Prahova, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest. The anniversary celebrations continued at the Europa Christiana Hall of the Patriarchal Palace.

During the event, Father Ștefan Sfarghie, Patriarchal Coordinating Adviser and Director of Lumina Publications, highlighted the development of the Romanian Orthodox Church’s mission over the past 19 years.

“These nearly two decades have represented a period of renewal, consolidation and affirmation of the Romanian Orthodox Church’s mission in Romanian society,” he stated.

He emphasized that the Church’s pastoral, cultural, charitable, media and educational activities had expanded significantly under Patriarch Daniel’s leadership, guided by the conviction that the Gospel must be communicated to each generation in language it can understand without compromising its eternal truth.
