Memory of the Hieromartyr Archpriest Nikolai Rozanovtranslated

On July 4, the day of remembrance of the Hieromartyr Nikolai Rozanov (Zvenigorodsky), a cathedral service was held in the Ascension Cathedral. The Divine Liturgy was led by the dean of the Zvenigorod deanery district, priest Nikolai Kurenkov, co-served by the clergy of the deanery. At the end of the service, a religious procession took place.
Hieromartyr Archpriest Nikolai Rozanov was born in 1867 in the village of Muromtsevo, Dmitrov district, Moscow province, into the family of priest Pyotr Alekseevich Rozanov. In 1886 he graduated from the Bethany Theological Seminary, served in the Moscow region and in Moscow. Since 1921, he was assigned to the Zvenigorod district, where he served in the Ascension Cathedral and the Alexander Nevsky Church until 1938.
In March 1938, he was arrested following a denunciation and accused of slandering the Soviet government. On June 7 he was sentenced to death by the NKVD troika, on July 4 he was shot at the Butovo training ground near Moscow and buried in an unknown common grave.
Canonized as the Holy New Martyrs of Russia by a resolution of the Holy Synod on December 26, 2002, for church-wide veneration. Commemorated on July 4, in the Cathedral of Russian New Martyrs and Confessors and in the Cathedral of Butovo New Martyrs.
