On August 2, 2026, due to a sudden illness, at the 68th year of his life, the dean of the churches of the Berezovsky district, the rector of the parish of the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Bereza, Archpriest Georgy Shevtsov, reposed in the Lord.

Shevtsov Georgy Vasilievich was born on June 5, 1959 in the city of Balashov, Saratov region.

He served in the armed forces from 1977-1979.

In 1977 he graduated from the Balashov fur technical school.

In 1984, Moscow Theological Seminary.

On April 7, 1984, in the Intercession Academic Church of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Bishop Alexander of Dmitrov was ordained to the rank of deacon.

On March 17, 1985, in the Annunciation Cathedral in Kharkov, he was ordained a presbyter by the Archbishop of Kharkov and Bogodukhovsky.

On June 20, 1984, he was temporarily appointed clergyman of the Holy Annunciation Cathedral in Kharkov.

On September 6, 1984, he was appointed full-time deacon of the St. John the Besieknovensky Church in Kharkov.

On March 5, 1985, he was appointed to the position of full-time deacon of the Holy Trinity Church in Kharkov.

On March 18, 1985, he was appointed to the position of rector of the Holy Intercession Church in the village. Novoaleksandrovka Sakhnovshchinsky...

Eternal memory. Father George had quite a path — from the fur tech school in Balashov, army service, then straight into the Moscow seminary in '84. The article cuts off at his appointment to that little Pokrov church in Novoaleksandrovka, but he clearly kept serving faithfully for decades after. May the Lord grant him rest.
