“Autumn in the Mountains”: The pilgrimage service invites you to get acquainted with the shrines of Uzbekistantranslated

The pilgrimage service of the Yekaterinburg diocese invites you to travel to Uzbekistan, a country of ancient cities, Orthodox shrines and breathtaking mountain roads, from October 14 to 19, 2026.

Ural pilgrims have already been here in November 2025 and April 2026, and got acquainted with the shrines of Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. This time the route is for those who want to see classic, not quite touristy Uzbekistan: with artisans, bazaars, local cuisine and people. All this awaits in the Fergana Valley, where the road leads through the Kamchik pass in the Tien Shan mountains. Its height is about 2268 meters above sea level. This is the only road connecting Tashkent with the densely populated areas of the valley. From the top point, panoramas of rugged mountains and the green Fergana Valley open up. The pass has been known since ancient times: the Great Silk Road passed through it, connecting Central Asia with China, Iran and India. Today it is still a strategic road, with more than 20 thousand cars passing every day.
